What motivates a Muslim to become an Islamic Scholar? Is it the title he receives before his name? Is it the acceptance and warming response of the people he seeks? Is it the desire for recognition he wishes for? Is it the comforting salary he might possibly get? Is it the feeling of having others look up to him? A student of knowledge constantly has to control himself from these temptations and other small innocent looking intentions that can be used against him. A Scholar is not truly recognized until other Scholars recognize him as such. But does such an individual strive for this recognition? Will he stop gaining knowledge because of this recognition? Does the Scholar find himself coming closer to His Lord with every authentic piece of knowledge he gains? Or does he not see or feel the difference? Does he cherish the knowledge which he was blessed with or does he overlook this gift? Is he finding himself implementing this knowledge before telling others to do it? The student of knowledge becomes the doctor of his own soul. Please comment insh'Allah wsalam Becoming a Scholar for the sake of… sake |
